Abstract
Ischemic monomelic neuropathy (IMN) is an infrequent type of ischemic neuropathy produced by a shunting blood or acute occlusion of a major proximal artery in the extremities. Activity-induced pain, accompanied with abnormal motor and sensory symptoms may be developed in severe ischemia patients.
Extent of collateral circulation, duration of the ischemia, location of the occlusion, and size of the vessel are determinants of prognosis. We report that 79 year old man complained of weakness and paresthesia in left leg had a total occlusion of left common iliac artery was confirmed by angiography. Thrombectomy was done 48 hours after first symptom onset. But acute ischemic neuropathy restricted to peroneal and tibial nerve territories was developed. With comprehensive rehabilitaton treatment his neurologic symptom such as weakness and paresthesia was improved. Peroneal and tibial nerves regeneration was confirmed with electrodiagnostic study.
